CHIRPS Rainfall Data

Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station data (CHIRPS) is a 30 year rainfall dataset. The data covers most of the globe (50°S-50°N at all longitudes). The data period is from 1981 to near present. The CHIRPS methodology uses 0.05° resolution satellite imagery with weather station data to create gridded rainfall time series providing capabilities for trend analysis and seasonal drought monitoring. For more information on CHIRPS, please refer to the CHIRPS website

CHIRPS Monthly Rainfall (top) and Anomaly (bottom)
Please be patient while maps load. Rainfall data should update 2-3 days after end of Month

Anomaly represents difference in rainfall (mm) from long term average
